Conway, South Carolina

by Jacinda Wright

Long before there was a paved road to drive on to get into Myrtle Beach there was Conway, SC, the county seat of Horry County. Conway is a historical city, and if you explore its rich history, you will find out how Myrtle Beach became such a destination for many all across the country. Conway, SC is home to Coastal Carolina University, which is growing in population every semester. Right next door to CCU is Horry Georgetown Technical College, which offers an early college program for high school students that allows them to graduate high school with a diploma and an associate’s degree. Conway SC, a beautiful river-town community, is also a premier place to buy property right now. With so many new developments, you are quietly tucked away, yet only 30 minutes away from Myrtle Beach. So, you get the excitement of Myrtle Beach in a short car ride and the tasteful Conway downtown shops filled with trinkets and eateries such as Rivertown Bistro- that gives you a fine dining atmosphere with the right amount of Southern charm. Or, when you want a waterfront view without the crashing waves of the ocean, take a stroll down the Conway Riverwalk. How about eating a hot fried fish sandwich under the Spanish moss of a live oak tree at Ocean Fish Market? Whatever you like to partake in, I’m sure Conway has something to offer that will tickle your fancy! The main street theater that has many hit productions every season. From the shopping, the history, to the community, Conway, SC has a lot to offer, whether you visit for a day or decide to make it your home. It’s a great place to live. I was born and raised there, and I think I turned out pretty well.

If you are interested in investing in or finding out more details about Conway SC real estate, I am more than happy to help you find your destination for a new home!

Tidewater Golf Club

by Marylou Tortorete
tidewater-newLiving at Tidewater is a great experience and offers a quality of life for any one at any age. With over 350 families living here in 13 different neighborhoods one thing that sticks in my mind is tranquility. Before I purchased here that was one thing that I came away with was no matter what time of day I showed property there it was peaceful.  This is a gated community which offers the owner peace of mind. It does not matter if you want to sit quietly and read a book and listen to the birds sing or be very energetic and play a round of golf on a course that I have heard being compared to Pebble Beach. A variety of organizations to join from aerobics, bridge to the Red Hat Society. Very patriotic in helping the veterans in our community in NMB. If you like art or crafts it is offered here as well. Or maybe food is your thing and there are dinner clubs and progressive dinners to get to know your neighbors. The Grille always has great meals if you do not want to cook with parties and music for all the holidays with your neighbors.

Price range is from 100K to 2million. Condos, Townhomes and single family Residences on the golf course, on the ICW or just a cul-de-sac. A private beach house on the blue Atlantic to watch the sun rise or set.  Tidewater offers something for everyone. Tidewater Golf Club & Plantation is a wonderful place to call home.

Island Green Country Club

by Jerry Motley

islandgreencountryclub-smallFor over three decades Island Green Country Club has been a favorite of local Myrtle Beach golfers. Under new ownership and management since January 2012, this 18 hole semi-private facility is best known for its Bermuda fairways and greens and its namesake Island Green finishing hole. Built on gently rolling terrain accented with an abundance of azaleas and dogwoods, there are two different nine holes- the front being The Tall Oaks and the back nine being The Holly. The Bill Mooney designed course offers golfers of all handicaps to choose between four different sets of tees: the longest championship tees stretching over 6,400 yards, white tees at 6,100 yards, gold tees at 5,640 yards, and red tees at 4,660 yards. Several holes feature strategically placed island and peninsula greens. This makes it challenging but not overly difficult and enjoyable for all golfers. Whether a golf novice or professional, the course will prove an excellent playing surface and design.
